America and the World is a multi-modal curriculum written for a number of applications. What started out as a stand-alone history curriculum for college and high school students has turned into a highly effective reading and writing program for special populations.
The learning differences application has been used with students diagnosed with dyslexia and other learning disabilities. That application includes video staging of the historical lesson, followed by a transcript of the video to provide the learner with an audio read of the text.
We also offer a variety of activities to reinforce literacy skills. Each unit contains teacher and student lesson plans and can be customized to align with regular education content and scope. This is important when a curricular modification is needed and the general education teacher doesn't have the time to provide it.
Our curriculum also lends itself to character development in the way we present ideas and issues. How? We foster critical thinking skills. This is all the rage in education, but here are a few examples of what it actually means:
